Malaysian Firms Keen To Venture Into Tajikistan, Says Najib
Emomali Sharipovich Rahmon and Datuk Seri Najib Tun RazakPUTRAJAYA, June 23 (Bernama) -- Malaysian companies with an edge in construction, public housing, power generation, mining as well as halal food and products are keen to explore invetsment opportunities in Tajikistan, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Najib said the companies would do well in the former Soviet republic, adding a Malaysian power generation company plans to venture into the power generation business there, marking the beginning of many collaborations to come.
Speaking at a joint press conference at Seri Perdana here Monday in conjunction with Tajikistan President Emomali Sharipovich Rahmon's four-day visit to Malaysia, Najib said Malaysia and Tajikistan are committed to achieving a heightened level of bilateral trade moving forward.
"There is much scope for us to achieve a higher level of collaboration between the two business communities of the two countries," he said.
Bilateral trade between both countries expanded nearly 200 per cent year-on-year to US$5.5 million in 2013, he said.
