THE SME Recognition Award 2014 is now open for nomination.

In the run-up to the award ceremony on Dec 4, a roadshow to create awareness on the award will be held at the Ixora Hotel in Prai, Penang, starting from 2pm to 5pm on Thursday.

Seberang Prai SME Association (SPSME) president Francis Wong said through the roadshow, he hoped that more SMEs nationwide would take part in the award ceremony to be held at the Sunway Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

“We hope to see more SMEs from the northern region take part in the ceremony. Previously, there was very low participation from local SMEs.” he told a press conference in Komtar recently.

The annual award, held for the 13th time since 2002, is themed ‘Beyond Belief to Achieve.’

It is meant to honour outstanding SMEs that have made significant contributions to the country’s economy.

Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, who was also present, said the state government was supportive of the event.

He said the award would be a great opportunity for the local SMEs to further enhance their business.
