"We hope to generate higher income for them through small and medium enterprise (SME) business.

"Assistance is also available for SMEs through AIM while Tekun Nasional has been allocated additional funding of RM700 million to lend out to small businessmen," he told reporters after visiting a salted fish factory in Pengkalan here today.

Ahmad Maslan said besides giving out financial assistance, the government through its agencies, also extended business advisory services to the community.

"We will ensure more Bumiputera entrepreneurs are created over time.

"This is a measure to upgrade the socio economic status of the people and we will be committed to this effort," he added.
