KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — Bank Rakyat announced today six-month waiver of a loan scheme of up to RM50,000 to flood victims during the launch of its new office at Jalan Travers today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak officially announced the loan plan in his speech when officiating the new office building.

“Loaning period is about seven years and this applies to victims from Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak and Johor,” Najib said.

Victims have to submit proof of documents from National Security Council (NCS) or police reports.

Registration for the loan scheme will be from January 19 until February 19 next month.

Malaysia has been hit with a series of monsoon floods  since December last year which affected hundreds of thousands of people living in the east coast.
